Iraqi Freedom Veteran

I joined the Marines in August of 1999 and was sent to Operation Bright Star in Egypt in October of 2001. The security was heightened and while at Bright Star, I found out I was going to be sent to Kuwait to join an upcoming Task Force. I was able to come back to the states first and take my lady to the Marine Ball. Shortly after, I left for Kuwait and spent the next 7 months on Camp Doha with the CJTFCM (Combined Joint Task Force Consequence Management). I got back to the states in June of 2002. Spent the next 7 months in garrison and returned to Kuwait in January of 2003.

I was stationed for the first month at Camp Commando. After this month, I was attached to the British command center and provided data communications with the US Liasons also attached. We made about 3 moves before going into Iraq and finally made the jump shortly after the war started on March 19, 2003 (My 22nd Birthday. WOOHOO! haha). After we setup camp in Iraq, we spent 2 weeks at a town just over the border, then made our move to Basrah International Airport where we setup camp in the airport. I slept in the tunnel you take to get onto a plane for the next month. With this becoming summer, it was about 100+ degrees in there every morning at 8am. AHH!

I went back to Kuwait in mid-May and shortly after that returned to the states. In August of 2003 I was Honorably discharged and returned to the motherland of Colorado. Used the GI bill over the next years and graduated college. WOOHOO! I FULLY SUGGEST PUTTING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN INTO THE GI BILL! VERY VERY WORTH IT!!!!

Thats all folks!
